Q. What exactly is ModWood?
Ans:- ModWood is a composite decking product made from a blend of recycled wood fibre and plastic. It contains no formaldehyde.
Q. Will it warp over time?
Ans:- If installed following the manufacturer’s instructions (with proper spacing, ventilation, ground clearance, etc.), ModWood decking will not warp. However, ModWood mini boards (screening boards) may show slight deflection between supports.
Q. How about fading / colour change?
Ans:- The Natural Grain Collection may undergo some colour shift (weathering) over the first few months. The brushed face tends to show less fade than the smooth face. Also, the manufacturer provides a fade-resistance warranty for certain products (e.g. Xtreme Guard).
Q. Can ModWood be used in fire-prone / bushfire zones?
Ans:- Yes — the Flame Shield® variant of ModWood is specially formulated with fire-retardant additives and can be used in areas rated up to BAL-40 (bushfire attack level).
Q. What warranties are offered?
Ans:- ModWood provides a 10-year limited residential warranty for general decking products and 7-year commercial warranty for typical lines. Some premium lines (Xtreme Guard) may carry longer or enhanced warranty terms.
Q. How should I fix / install ModWood?
Ans:- Use standard woodworking tools (saws, drills) with appropriate blades. Ensure proper board spacing (side-to-side gap, end-to-end gap), ventilation, and ground clearance. Follow manufacturer’s “Fixing & Installation” guide carefully.
