Unlike traditional surface coatings, CUTEK® penetrates deep into the wood fibres, enhancing stability and dramatically reducing the likelihood of splitting, cupping, and warping caused by moisture changes and environmental stress. This deep-penetrating action also helps prevent decay, fungal growth, and damage from mould and insects.
CUTEK® oil allows timber to “breathe” naturally, maintaining its structural integrity over time. It also highlights and enhances the timber’s natural grain and tone. For added UV protection and colour control, CUTEK® Colourtone can be added to the oil, helping maintain the timber’s appearance while still allowing the grain to show through. Easy to apply and recoat with no sanding or stripping required, Step 2 ensures your timber looks better, lasts longer, and performs stronger—whether it’s used for decking, cladding, outdoor furniture, or structural elements.

FAQ's
Asked General Question
Q. How does CUTEK® oil protect timber differently than surface coatings?
Ans:- CUTEK® oil penetrates deep into the timber rather than forming a film on the surface. This internal protection stabilises the wood, helping to prevent splitting, cupping, and warping—without the risk of peeling or flaking over time.
Q. Can I apply CUTEK® oil without using a Colourtone?
Ans:- Yes, you can apply CUTEK® as a clear oil for natural weathering. However, for enhanced UV protection and to maintain the timber’s colour, it’s recommended to add a CUTEK® Colourtone.
Q. How do I apply CUTEK® Wood Protection oil?
Ans:- Apply with a brush, roller, or spray directly to clean, dry timber. Ensure even coverage and allow time for absorption. Wipe off any excess oil after 30–60 minutes to avoid surface tackiness.
Q. Is CUTEK® safe for all exterior wood types?
Ans:- Yes, CUTEK® is suitable for use on a wide range of softwoods and hardwoods, including treated pine, spotted gum, blackbutt, merbau, and more. It’s ideal for residential and commercial applications alike.
Q. How often should I reapply CUTEK® oil?
Ans:- Recoat every 12–24 months depending on environmental exposure and aesthetic preference. Surfaces with added Colourtone may require reapplication when colour fades. Maintenance is easy—no sanding needed.
